About The Acquisition
After years of collaboration on various events, including Rethreaded selling specialized Amelia Toffee products from their retail and online store, Rethreaded purchased Amelia Toffee in September of 2021.
“It’s such an incredible thing we are so excited about,” says Kristin Keen, founder and CEO of Rethreaded. “We have always admired Amelia Toffee and have loved their heart for their community and the care they take in creating their product.”
Rethreaded sees this as an opportunity to increase the kinds of products they provide as well as to be able to train survivors in areas of food preparation and candy making. It will also open up 3-5 more positions for survivors of human trafficking.
“This really marks an increase of the impact we’re able to have,” says Anita Comisky, founder of Amelia Toffee Company. “I am thrilled that Amelia Toffee is part of Rethreaded and we can help change many lives with our toffee.”
About Rethreaded
Rethreaded started with a simple idea and a strong passion from its founder, Kristin Keen in Jacksonville, FL. She began by forming relationships with women on the street and making prison visits and realized that the greatest need was for a safe, supportive work environment where the women could earn money while learning a skill and experiencing continued healing through community.
We renew hope, reignite dreams and release potential for survivors of human trafficking locally and globally through business.
Survivors Face Countless Barriers When Exiting Human Trafficking:
- Finding a job can be incredibly difficult with a history of being trafficked.
- Without a stable job to support themselves, 80% of women who have been trafficked will be trafficked again.
- There is often deep trauma and access to mental health resources can be expensive.
- Without a community of support, many women struggle to navigate the system and feel trapped.
