The Story Behind The Grace Scarf

by | Oct 31, 2019

The Grace Scarf has become synonymous with the Rethreaded name and mission. It’s so much more than an accessory, it is a key part of our past, present, and bright future. Check out what our Founder and President, Kristin Keen has to say about the product that is changing lives:

“I think the biggest reason this product sells is that it is our symbol. When you wear the grace scarf, people know it came from Rethreaded. It inspires people and makes them feel like they belong to something bigger than themselves. It is a symbol of hope and love to so many people. You wear this and you belong. You make a difference. You are part of the Rethreaded family.”

Grace Scarf

The Grace scarf has become a symbol of hope, community and second chances.

The story of the Grace Scarf begins long before the accessory is made. This scarf begins with the community. Rethreaded’s radical community would not be the same without the many people that donate t-shirts to us day after day. When an individual walks through our doors to donate a bag of t-shirts, they become a part of the Rethreaded family. They contribute to the story of healing for our survivors.

Grace Scarf

When a survivor employee begins work at Rethreaded, the Grace Scarf is the first item she learns how to make. Each scarf is made of an upcycled t-shirt that is cut into 15 individual threads and stretched by hand. When a delicate t-shirt strand is stretched, each strand curls eliminating all errors made in the cutting process. This creates a perfect strand. Each new strand is then put together to make a bundle. Once gathered, all the unique pieces are tied together into a beautiful scarf.

We call it the Grace Scarf because our method reminds us of the grace we need to extend daily: we all come from a place of brokenness, but everyone has the potential to create beauty in the world. The one-of-a-kind Grace Scarf allows you to help share our story, and yours, with the world.

Grace Scarf

When you wear one of our scarves, you are empowering women to dream big and release their potential. When you wear a Grace Scarf, you are changing lives.
